Description

LED: Light Extraction Droid is a top-down twin-stick shooter with roguelike elements that aims to be family-friendly in terms of non-violent content and easy to learn controls. You take on the role of Merlin, a robot detective in Light City aiming to take down the Light Bulb gang. Your journey will take you through randomly generated environments and levels, defeat enemies, and collect items, all to retrieve keycards that will restore the light to the nearby stores of Light City.

History

LED: Light Extraction Droid has had a few narrative and environment setting changes over its lifetime. Initially, Merlin was an anthromorphic microwave trying to find its way through a scrapyard setting back to its home with the initial name of "The Fall of Microwave" and shortly after "Reheat", although has since moved away from the appliance narrative and scrapyard setting. Instead, LED: Light Extraction Droid as moved towards a "futuristic city at night time" setting with Merlin, now a robot detective, trying to defeat enemies and restore the light to the city. This change was partially due to time constraints, resulting in the light based appliance enemies we had driving us towards a light centred setting / narrative.

Features

  • Play as Merlin, a futuristic robot detective, collecting key cards to restore power to citizens of Light City.
  • Explore lots of randomly generated environments and levels.
  • Lots of items to power up your attack and defense.
  • Stunning hand drawn art and animations.
  • Available for download on Windows and is playable in the browser via WebGL.
